A six-day circular horseback journey for travelers who want to experience more than the classic route to Son-Kul. Cross two mountain passes, follow remote pastures and family yurt camps around the lake, and return to Kyzart by a different trail. Five nights in traditional yurts make this our most immersive journey into the landscapes and nomadic life of the highlands

Kyzart - Kilemche Jailoo
Around 4-4.5 hours by horse - approx. 18 km
Your journey begins at Mira’s Homestay in Kyzart, where you will meet your local guide, get acquainted with your horse and check the riding equipment.
After a homemade lunch with our family, ride through rolling foothills, open valleys and wide summer pastures toward Kilemche Jailoo.
Kilemche is known for its soft, carpet-like green landscape and the peaceful rhythm of shepherd life in summer.
Lunch and dinner are included. Overnight in a traditional yurt at Kilemche Jailoo.

Kilemche - Jalgyz-Karagai Pass - Bala-Beiyit (Son-Kul)
Around 5-6 hours by horse - approx. 18-22 km
After breakfast, begin the steady climb toward Jalgyz-Karagai Pass. The trail rises above Kilemche and opens wider mountain views with every step.
At approximately 3,400 m, the rocky pass reveals the vast Son-Kul basin and the blue lake for the first time.
Descend across open high-altitude pastures toward Bala-Beiyit. Lunch is served along the route or after arrival, depending on the group’s pace and weather.

Bala-Beiyit - Batay-Aral - Kumduu-Suu
Around 5-6.5 hours by horse - approx. 22-27 km
After breakfast, continue across the open Son-Kul plateau toward Batay-Aral, passing alpine pastures where horses, sheep and cattle graze in summer.
Stop in Batay-Aral for lunch and a short rest among the lakeside yurts, with a glimpse into the everyday life of local shepherd families.
In the afternoon, follow the lakeshore toward Kumduu-Suu. This longer stage offers uninterrupted views across the water and the mountain ranges surrounding the basin.

Kumduu-Suu - Tash-Uy - Mirlan's Yurt Camp
Around 4-5 hours by horse - approx. 18-22 km
After breakfast, leave Kumduu-Suu and ride through the quieter eastern pastures of Son-Kul toward Tash-Uy.
Cross open jailoos and small mountain streams, then stop for lunch and rest before continuing to Mirlan’s family yurt camp.
On arrival, enjoy hot tea, a homemade dinner and an evening surrounded by the changing light over the highlands.

Mirlan's Yurt Camp - Kara-Kyya
Around 4-5 hours by horse - approx. 18-22 km
After breakfast, say goodbye to your hosts and ride toward Kara-Kyya across broad highland pastures.
The trail gradually approaches the mountains that separate the Son-Kul basin from the valleys around Kyzart, with changing views of the lake and distant peaks.
A packed lunch is served along the route. By late afternoon, arrive near Kara-Kyya for a final quiet evening beneath the clear mountain sky.

Kara-Kyya - Kyr-Jol Pass - Kyzart
Around 4.5-5.5 hours by horse - approx. 20-24 km
After your final breakfast in the mountains, begin the return journey to Kyzart through Kyr-Jol Pass.
Look back across the Son-Kul highlands before descending toward the Jumgal Valley, where alpine scenery gradually gives way to softer hills and farmland.
Arrive at Mira’s Homestay for a homemade farewell lunch, with time to rest and say goodbye to your guide and horses.
Breakfast and lunch are included. End of the tour.

Arrival options
Option A — Arrive and start the same day
Arrive in Kyzart by 11:00. We’ll welcome you with lunch, introduce you to your guide and horses, and start the journey at around 12:00–13:00.
Option B — Stay with us the night before
Come to Kyzart the evening before the tour and stay at our family homestay. Relax after the journey, enjoy a homemade dinner and start the trek fresh after breakfast
